Sierra Verde Project
Reunion Island works hard to source the finest coffees in the world. They strive to find the best organic and sustainable coffees, so we're proud to introduce their latest effort, the Sierra Verde Project. This project showcases coffees grown organically and under Rainforest Alliance's exacting standards to bring you coffees that are always seasonally fresh and of the highest caliber.
Rainforest Alliance is a non-profit organization that certifies progressive farms that adhere to stringent environmental, labor and living standards. Organic certification ensures that the crop is grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides a process that is not only better for you, but for the earth as well.
Reunion Island is also working with Trees for the Future to plant two trees in a developing coffee-producing country for every pound of coffee sold through the Sierra Verde Project. To date, they have planted more than 800,000 trees.
Doing our part.
Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could
change the world for one person.
Colombian Las Hermosas Project
Reunion Island’s relationship with the Las Hermosas farmers started in 2004 when they discovered an exceptional Colombian coffee from a farming cooperative in the South Tolima region. In an effort to give back to this community, they donate funds each year to support projects including school renovations, computer labs and improved agricultural infrastructure.
Thanks to our customers, we have been able to contribute to this small farming cooperative that supply Reunion Island’s with very high quality Colombian.
Privateer Dark Project
One of Reunion Island’s signature blends, Privateer Dark is the epitome of balance in a dark roast, featuring coffees from the Americas. Pulling deep and heavy flavours and a full-forced balance, the resulting cup is one that will hit all corners of your tongue, that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
This iteration in particular is also grown with special attention paid to the quality of life for its producers, and careful consideration for the environment, thanks to its Rainforest Alliance and Organic certifications.
With every pound of Privateer Dark Reunion Island will donate the equivalent to 18L of clean water through NativeEnergy’s Help Build™ project. The project provides biosand water filters to households in the coffee growing region of Sidama, Ethiopia.
Teracycle Coffee Capsules Zero Waste Box
TerraCycle has created a zero-waste solution for all your coffee capsules. Use the waste box to recycle any pre-packaged beverage capsules used in capsule-specific machines to make hot beverages.
What happens to the waste?
The collected waste is mechanically and/or manually separated into metals, organics and plastics. Metals are melted so they may be recycled. The organics (such as the coffee grounds) are composted. The plastics undergo extrusion and pelletization to be molded into new recycled plastic products.
